Our History
Diocese Established
The Anglican Church of Kenya Diocese of Nambale was established in 1987 from the Diocese of Maseno North. It was created to bring episcopal services closer to the congregation. The first Bishop was the Rt. Rev. Isaac Namango, who had been the assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Maseno North, serving under Bishop James Mundia.
Dioceses Carved Out
In 1991, the Diocese of Katakwa was carved out and in 1996 the Diocese of Bungoma was also carved out leaving the present Diocese of Nambale. The Headquarters of the Diocese are at A.C.K St. Thomas Cathedral Nambale and are associated with the memory of the late much-loved pioneering Rev. Canon Jeremiah Awori.
